Defence and security company Saab has received an order from the Brazilian Army for deliveries of the RBS 70 VSHORAD (Very Short Range Air Defence) system. Deliveries will take place during 2018-2019.

The RBS 70 system is in-service with the Brazilian Army and the system played an important role in the protection of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The contract signed between Saab and the Brazilian Army includes man-portable launchers, training simulators, camouflage systems and associated equipment for operators and maintainers. “Brazil has an ambitious program for strengthening their air defence capability and this is our third order from the customer in recent years. We are proud to have been selected as a supplier in that transformation, knowing that our system plays an important role in protecting their airspace and defending critical infrastructure”, says Marianna Silva, Country Manager Saab Brazil.

@Zarvan

Is there any possibility of your putting together your posts organised systematically in some place? Maybe a blog site of your own? Or some permitted part of PDF? Systematically, in that posts on artillery would be together, subdivided into missile/surface to air missiles, missiles/surface to surface ballistic missiles, missiles/surface to surface cruise missiles, missiles/ground attack missiles, missiles/ MBRL, tube artillery/howitzers, tube arty/medium artillery, tube artillery/mortars (more than 2" and 3", for 3", vehicle mounted only), and so on.

You have the most comprehensive suite of posts on equipment. Making those posts available in this kind of sequenced, structured format would be a fascinating product.

A database.

Tell them to take you on as a consultant.
Still waiting for you to give us some good news about your newspaper / TV initiative.

I fought with the then management, the CMD, bitterly; I was hiring MEs and PhDs, and he was very hostile, felt I couldn't retain them, and wanted me to shift back to diploma holders! For avionics, for CAE and for simulation! We had just started (1998-99) ray-tracing exercises; you will understand what that was leading to.

After I left, one partner unilaterally withdrew from our office which was on the site of a biennial air show that was one of the two top ones in the world, and disbanded my overseas marketing team; they destroyed future opportunities for overseas projects. That partner decided not to employ outsiders again, only their own employees. The only consolation I took away was that the company never went into losses again; they had been uniformly loss-making when I took it over. Today it does only spillover work from whatever technology we had brought in during the earlier period, including collaborations in instrumentation (glass cockpits) and engines (terrestrial and marine, no aeronautical, which was a blunder, but which protected one of the worst DRDO units, a notorious failed unit, that made a mess of the Kaveri engine). I never want to have anything to do with that partner ever again. While I have defended them in public, on this forum, I also have seen where their bodies are buried, and I am glad that privatisation is coming into Indian defence production.

What newspaper/TV initiative? I've lost track of that; please remind me.

I had suggested that you write regularly for a newspaper, as well as do a weekly show on current affairs on TV, given your contacts in media. You said you would think about it.

Given nutcases running amok on TV right now, you will surely bring a balanced, fresh perspective. Something desperately needed, to counter the madness modi is promoting, as well as someone who can actually challenge the rhetoric, with facts.

Two nuclear powers, at each others throats is not a good scenario for anyone. Grass root level contacts, and trade is need to be promoted to enrich the lives of the common man.

It saddens and angers me, when an ill mother cannot meet her children who live across the border, because some petty SOB politician, wants to score points, and line his pocket.

Your last two paragraphs were straight hits to the heart; I found myself deeply regretful of what is going on now between our two countries. My positive rating is for that sharp reminder that we deserve in both countries, although you will naturally have taken into account the slow healing in Pakistan and the rapid degradation of our systems and culture and constitutional practices.

Thank you very much.

I deeply regret that I did not see the broad human sympathy and sensitivity that you possess, and wasted so much time quibbling with you over silly things.

After Q1 2018, I hope to have organised myself to do useful and constructive things of the kind that you suggested, and shall start working on it now onwards. Facts, as you mention, first and foremost; and exposing every lunatic act that takes place.

God has given you a gift, you must rise above you shortcomings, and use that gift for the betterment of your fellow man. Most have either the gift, or the opportunity, you have BOTH. So I would urge you, to work for peace, make your voice be heard, let people understand that the hatred card only helps politicians line their pockets. This hard earned tax payers money that should go into health, education, infrastructure is being wasted beating war drums, and unnecessarily building arsenals, AT EXORBITANT PRICES, because anyone that dares question the rationale of X number of ships / fighter jets, is very easily labelled a traitor, AND that is the end of that poor bloke. It is the easiest scam in the book.

What politicians all over the world need to realize is, that they are trustees NOT owners of public wealth, and they should think a million times before they authorize its use.

IF the hard earned tax payers money is spent wisely, it would uplift the common man, and that is what your goal should be, teach people to think!

I'm not asking you to become one, but just as an example, Mother Teresa, and Abdul Sattar Edhi, worked tirelessly for the good of the common man, and rose above petty politics, and helped people irrespective of color, religion or race, and not only today ,but in their lifetime, they earned something, very few people get: Love and Respect.

One of the solution to peace in the subcontinent is that the decision makers on both sides, sit down and talk it out one to one. India should be speaking to the PA covertly, OR overtly IF it wants peace, speaking to politicians who would sell their souls on a dime, is just wasting time. Nawaz Sharief has investments in India, he is close to those who are the front men of politicians, but what has that achieved? Nothing. A new break through, in this silly impasse is needed. The common man should not be suffering.

Sane minds from both sides, must sit together and hash out an action plan, to de-escalate, increase trade, and grass level contacts.

I sincerely, pray and hope, that people realize: "when you help your fellow man, you help yourself." Hatred burns you up first, than anyone else later.
