HYDERABAD: A remote-controlled improvised explosive device was found on the Indus Highway outside Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) in Jamshoro on Wednesday morning.
A rickshaw driver spotted the bomb minutes before the buses of MUET, Sindh University and Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) were to pass through that road.

While speaking to the media, SSP Jamshoro Irfan Bahadur said that a rickshaw driver informed police about the IED after which the police immediately reached the place and threw a cordon in the area.
The traffic including public and goods transport vehicles were diverted as the Bomb Disposal Squad engaged in defusing the bomb.
The SP Special Branch Aamir Shah said that the bomb weighed around five kilogrammes. He added that five metal pipes filled with around one kg of explosives each were attached and placed under a protective roadside wall and the explosive was controlled by a remote.
Two police personnel martyred during raid in Charsadda
He informed that the BDS defused the bomb and cleared the road for traffic. Meanwhile, classes in the three universities were disrupted for a short time primarily because of the traffic diversion.
