Boko Haram in Nigeria created by US: Analyst
A political commentator says the Takfiri Boko Haram militant group in Nigeria has been created by the US, Press TV reports.
“Boko Haram is a CIA creation. It has been created by intelligence operatives, supported and armed by factions that are connected to the United States through Saudi Arabia,” said Keith Harmon Snow in an interview with Press TV.
The analyst noted that Washington has been attempting to destabilize Nigeria through propping up the Boko Haram Takfiri militant group in recent years.
He further stressed that the Pentagon has been directily contributing to the destabilization of the most populous African nation by supporting the militant group.
The United States and its allies are trying to use the militancy in Nigeria as a pretext for the deployment of US troops to the African country, the analyst said.
Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for a number of deadly shooting attacks and bombings mainly in northeastern Nigeria in recent years.
On April 14, the Takfiri group kidnapped 276 students from their secondary school in the northeastern town of Chibok in Borno State, triggering worldwide outrage. Reports say 57 of the girls managed to escape, but 219 are still missing.
