PESHAWAR: A bomb explosion killed 23 people and wounded more than 50 others in a tribal region of northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, officials said.

The explosion took place in a market in Jamrud, one of the towns of the troubled Khyber tribal region.

“The blast killed 23 people and wounded more than 50 others,” said senior administration official Jamil Khan.

He said that authorities were still investigating the exact cause of the explosion.

Another local administration official Shakeel Khan Umarzai confirmed the blast and said: “We are trying to determine the nature of the explosion whether it was a planted bomb or what.”

only solution is that central govt do political reforms in FATA and send real troops in real quantity instead of allowing FC personnel to be slaughtered

Terrible act. Innocent blood spilling, the REAL culprits should be found and punished!

@ziaulislam: how do you know it wasn't indian agencies, american agencies or our own agencies trying to build up support for the war??

Seems like bombing are getting their faces up again, albeit still in FATA.

Still, a sad incident nonetheless, RIP to the departed.

RIP. what else can we do but say these 3 letters. its insane out there.

I agree, recently frontier corps and frontier constabulary have taken some brutal hits.

In this case its common villagers who were connected to a lashkar thats doing the work of army.

Do you even know where FAT is and what connection it has with the on-going military ops?

There is a huge amount of army deployed there already!

I know but obviously these lashkars and both FCs are soft targets. This however also may mean these talibs are now weaker than before and all they can hit is soft targets.

PESHAWAR: At least 29 people were killed and 50 others were critically injured on Tuesday in a bomb blast near a petrol pump in Jamrud bazar of Khyber Agency, political agent Mutahirzeb told The Express Tribune.
The cause of the blast is still unknown; however, initial investigations show that the bomb was planted in a taxi stand near the petrol pump.

Out of the 50 reported to be injured, 34 were sent to Hayatabad Medical Complex, 14 to Khyber Teaching Hospital and two to Lady Reading Hospital.
Dr Syed Ali Shah from Hayatabad Medical Complex had earlier said that the hospital had received four dead bodies and two critically injured people.

According to sources, the members of a local peace committee, called Zaka Khel, in Khyber Agency were passing through the area when the bomb exploded. The committee fights against the militants in the area.

Authorities in Peshawar say that militants have changed their tactics and now tend to target security officials that have begun a crackdown against them. A number of security officials have been receiving threats and many were kidnapped and killed.
The militants say that they are avenging the security operation taking place in the area that has left many of their fellows killed.
