Srinagar: BJP on Friday said the ceasefire violations along the LoC and International Border in Jammu and Kashmir are totally "unacceptable" and asked the Centre to "teach Pakistan a lesson" through political means.
"The activities taking place on the border since the last two months are unacceptable. Time has come to respond to Pakistan in clear terms because if it does not stop what it is doing, then there are many political ways to teach the country a lesson so that it does not dare to do such things again," BJP national spokesman Prakash Javadekar said.
He said when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met Pakistan's Premier Nawaz Sharif in New York, infiltration took place in Keran sector of Kupwara and when Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde visited the
International Border, the Pakistani troops resorted to heavy shelling.
"This is totally unacceptable. Pakistan should be told in clear terms that this would not do," Javadekar said.
He said Pakistan's whole policy is Kashmir-centric. "If there is an issue between India and Pakistan, it is the use of Pakistan's territory for propagating terrorism against India. This is what worrying the country and needs
to be solved," he said.
"Whatever Pakistan is doing has become unbearable. Enough is enough. You cannot have peace talks and terror going on simultaneously," the BJP leader said.
He said the Prime Minister had talks with Pakistani Premier and even then there was no end to such activities. "So, these talks are meaningless. There are a lot of political options," he said.
Referring to the statement of Singh that he was disappointed with his Pakistani counterpart over the continued truce violations along the LoC and IB, Javadekar demanded stern action. "Now, the Prime Minister says that he is disappointed.
This is Pakistan's continuous activity and they will continue to disappoint you unless you take a concrete action Mr Prime Minister," he said.
