It's very crucial for BJP to get the assemblies of Bihar, UP, Maharashtra under its belt .

It's very crucial for BJP to get the assemblies of Bihar, UP, Maharashtra under its belt .

Once it's position in Rajya sabha improves ..it can push for greater reforms with full vigor .

At the moment the 336 in the LS and the 64 in the RS for the NDA will be enough to cobble a majority in a joint session of the houses called under 118, so any bill short of a constitutional amendment (in which case a joint session cannot be called) can be passed or dealt with.

But in the long term the NDA needs to post gains in the RS, that will take time though since there are not many upcoming vacancies at the moment. Till then they will have to be careful, taking too much on their plate and crashing due to their weakness in the RS will lead to a negative perception in an atmosphere of heightened expectations.

NDA and Modi cannot rest, not a jot, lots of work to do.

In the interim- Although Naveen Patnaik did state that while they would maintain an approach of equidistant relationship he would cooperate with the government at the center. Jaya too MAY be worked along with on a CASE BY CASE basis. But depending upon them is like depending upon mercenaries.
