Big Mouth Sheikh Rashid Must Resign Immediately With 74 Record Accidents.

YES! He must resign immediately. This is what he demanded from Saad Rafique when any accident happened in his time, should do the same. Resign immediately and an independent inquire is made into why is causing so many accidents. The railway condition in past few months have been on par the Bilore tenure really. Massive delays, dirty and poor condition carriages, accidents every other week. He needs to go!!

As long as there is content added from the poster which can start a debate/discussion. I have always said the same. The problem is with post that have only a tweet, an image or a video in opening post with no discussion material. All such threads should be in multimedia section.

The problem with pakistan railways is that Sheikho is trying to reduce the losses by increasing the number of trains but there is not enough infrastructure to support them. This in turn is causing these accidents and delays we are witnessing these days.
Remove him if you must but whoever will replace him will have to make the same choices he made.
Expansion and reconstruction of existing Line ML-1 is going to take 8 billion dollars and 5 years to complete until then you can either have either more accidents and delays or more losses depending on the choices made by the sitting ministers.

The Train Signalling system must be upgraded to ensure safety. There is a common standard which is in operations around the world (ETCS European train control system), CTCS (Chinese Train Control System). SelTac is also a good product in the rail signal and it offered in two ways 1) complete integrated system 2) A 'progressive' overlay solution. Increasing trains is not a solution, because you are reducing a headway between trains on the same track. You need proper signaling infrastructure to control the complex signaling process between passenger and freight trains and how to utilize tracks both type of vehicles. The cost of implementation has come down, with the Train control system the safety is ensure and also the track utilization can be increased.

Yes they must make sure to reduce accidents it will just require them to get a modern control system but delays wont stop with the existing systems in place.

Problem with Sheikh Rasheed have been that he have been too busy playing politics. The tracks are old and need to be maintained and secured on DAILY BASIS. Each station have an employee called the "Patrol Man". His job is to walk on the track and make sure they are all secured. If they are not, that is what will cause the train to derail. Sheikh have ignored checking and improve day to day workings of the railways. To him success is to launch a new train. Ignoring the day to day workings is causing delays, derailments, accidents, poor condition in existing carriages!!


I think the right move here is for him to resign, bring in someone new who can actually work for RAILWAYS and improve the conditions. This institute have the potential to earn revenue and repute for the government really.
