Is this science fiction? No! It's real and happening right now, under DARPA (Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency).
Robots are the next generation fighters. No doubt about that. But what looks like a nightmare scenario are almost indestructible 'self replicating robots' that can multiply in mind boggling numbers to overwhelm the enemy using their own cybernetic brains! Kill one and it will clone itself into a dozen more from the millions of nano robots within it, each endowed with memory to join together to form another fully functional robot within minutes!!
Killer robots might sound like the stuff of science fiction, but they're alarmingly close to becoming a reality. A new report from the United Nations Human Rights Commission suggests that lethal autonomous robots need to be regulated before they become the military weapons of the future.
