Bangladesh Army is looking to buy as many as 680 Light Armoured Vehicles (LAV) in view of standardizing the Ukraine-made armoured vehicles.

Bangladesh Military Forces website bdmilitary.com reported that the government-owned Directorate General of Defence Purchase (DGDP) is awarding a lucrative contract estimated $1 billion to Turkish firm Delta Defence for supplying modified Ukrainian armoured vehicles built as per tender specifications of the Bangladesh Army.

According to the source, the Army looks to buy 600 Tur-K2 and 80 Tur-K3 multipurpose armored vehicles. They will be delivered in phases with first 100 due for delivery in 2018, another 150 in 2019 and all remaining units by 2022.

The Tur-K2 is a Ukrainian Kozak-2m 4×4 armoured vehicle that based on 4×4 truck Iveco Eurocargo. The Tur-K3 is a Ukrainian Otaman 6×6 wheeled personnel carriers.

If you notice, all the defence media around the world have now been quoting BDmilitary in their news about Bangladesh which means they are quite a credible source on such matters.

True, BDmilitary is quite an elite military club. They don't allow any hedgy-pedgy gossip monger into that site.It is quite difficult to get membership there and it is impossible to post any bogus news and survive there.Overwhelming number of the members there are military men who knows the inner news which non military news sources learn a lot later.

Apart from the news itself, I do not think bdmilitary.com belongs to or is a spokesman for the Bangladesh Military Forces. It is a discussion forum and is supposed to be same as PDF, but has sources in the military officers.

That Ukrainian Kozak-2m 4×4 armoured vehicle is possibly a butch-ified clone (Upgraded bullet-proofing and mine-proofing mod) of the Russian GAZ 'Tigr' (Tiger) Humvee (See below). I'm curious whether we ordered the version with KORNET ATGM fitted on the roof...this one below is of course a remotely controlled small-calibre turret.
