Two soldiers killed, three injured; BLF claims responsibility; bomber kills six at Chaman border

QUETTA: A roadside bomb blast in the earthquake-hit Awaran district on Wednesday killed two soldiers and injured three others engaged in relief activities.

Official sources said the troops were heading to the quake-affected Moshkay tehsil of Awaran district when their vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device at around 10:00am.The injured were shifted to hospital for treatment and personnel of the security forces cordoned off the area.

The ISPR sources said the militants had carried out six attacks on security personnel engaged in relief activities since the earthquake hit the area last week. The officials added that the attacks would not deter the Army’s relief operations. Last week two helicopters carrying relief goods escaped rocket attacks in the area.

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch strongly condemned the blast and expressed grief over the deaths of two soldiers in the explosion. The chief minister warned that such incidents might create impediments in relief operation which would affect the common man.

Meanwhile, officials of the Balochistan government said relief activities were in full swing in Awaran district and 41 more trucks carrying relief goods left Quetta on Wednesday for quake affected areas.

Separately, six people, including one personnel of Frontier Corps (FC), were killed and 12 others were injured in a suicide blast near Bab-e-Dosti at Pak-Afghan border in Chaman.Officials from Chaman said that a suicide bomber detonated his explosive-laden vest when personnel of the FC intercepted the bomber at Pak-Afghan border for checking. The bomber was coming from across the border from Afghanistan.

Reports suggested that the suicide bomber came at Bab-e-Dosti driving a donkey cart. As soon as he reached near the FC check post, the personnel of FC posted there signalled him to stop for checking but he attempted to flee and detonated the suicide vest.

The injured were shifted to hospital. Reuters adds: A prominent separatist commander in Balochistan has threatened to step up attacks on security forces.“They (Army) are directly involved in the large-scale killings of Baloch men,” Allah Nazar, head of the Baloch Liberation Front (BLF), told Reuters by telephone from a secret location in Balochistan. “They want to crush us and make money from the disaster relief.”

“We claim responsibility for Wednesday morning attack on troops near Mushkay. We will step up such attacks in coming days,” said Nazar. “We cannot expect relief from the helicopters which routinely fire rockets at our villages”.

We are not doing enough to clean this mence, there is so much to gain economically with this problem resolved.

BLF is one of the worst seperatist terror outfits in Pakistan. It attacks civilians along with BLA and seeks to harm anyone who comes in their way. The destruction of Jinnah's mansion in Ziarat shows what a massive threat these seperatists pose to national security.

Unfortunately we Pakistanis are barely equipped to deal with this insurgency wracked province. We need to steel our will and go after the enemies of Pakistan like the BLA, BLF, LEJ and TTP. Then and only then can we think about outside threats. We need to put our house in order before we proceed.
