Greetings to all
Pakistan has so far acquired 5 Airborne Warning and Control System(AWACS) Saab-2000 planes from Sweden which are quiet useful in predetermining the locations of incoming warplanes. My question is that if they can be used as an early warning system for ballistic missiles & air launched cruise missiles. Because with the technology of BVR most planes dont get nearby rather they put their missiles to good use!!
I THINK You HAVE GOT MY QUERY UNDERSTOOD

.
Pakistan hasnt got any AWACS in service as of now to the best of my knowledge. Correct me if I am wrong.

AWACS are good in detecting Missile Launches.

We have got one from Sweden and four will be coming soon. We have got one from China as well and again more to follow.

Please dont let the credibilty of this Forum go down the drain by simply posting Wishes in here. Pakistan doesnt have any AWACS in service at the moment. In the future yes, you will be operating the chinese and european awacs! but now there are none.

AWACS is good for detecting the incoming or aggressor planes from far away distance and give the information to the other A/Cs and hence provide the situational awareness. But it cannot guide the missiles fired by the A/C and the missiles should be guided by on board radar of the A/C. AWACS will be a force multiplier if you have BVR capable A/Cs.

Saab 2000 will be fully online by this summer, some have already been handed over.

Is it Online Now??? NO, So My standing stands.

If there was a dire need for it, it could go online tomorrow. It's just going through standard testing and tinkering phase. Plus, you insinuated that we don't have any platforms in our hands currently, and I clearly refuted that.

OK what do you have right now ? We will get our AWACS before you get Phalcon from Israel Fitted on Russian Platforms.

PAF has One AWACS From Sweden and Kharian beast has shown you the proof and Pakistan will soon get More AWACS from China as well.

.
I do respect kharian-beast for the proof but the availability of AWACS wasn't the question rather the detection of incoming missiles was the real query

Erieye can detect and track airborne targets (over land or water) whether its an aircraft or a missile from low altitude up to 82,000-ft. The range of detection depends on the size of target. Max. range is 450 km.

Correct Pakistan is not operating any AWACS right now; currently there is a SAAB2000 airplane in Pakistan but its only for training purposes and does not has the Erieye Radar. But since India currently has acquired a phalcon, dont be surprised if an AWAC is leased from China.
