On June 26, the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Annapolis (SSN 760) made a successful test launch of Tomahawk cruise missiles.

According to U.S. Navy’s statement, the crew of the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Annapolis (SSN 760) successfully launches Tomahawk cruise missiles off the coast of southern California as part of a Tomahawk Flight Test (TFT) June 26, 2018.

Attack submarines, as a USS Annapolis, are designed to seek and destroy enemy submarines and surface ships; project power ashore with Tomahawk cruise missiles and Special Operation Forces (SOF); carry out Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions; support battle group operations; and engage in mine warfare.

The submarine USS Annapolis (SSN 760) is the fourth ship in the history of the United States Navy named for Annapolis, Maryland, home of the United States Naval Academy. Her keel was laid down on June 15, 1988, she was launched on May 18, 1991 and she was commissioned on April 11, 1992.

Pakistan is testing Babur-3 SLCM using a submerged vehicle, not an actual submarine.

Turkey is upgrading and preparing Pakistani Agosta 90B submarines to launch Babur-3 SLCM in the near future. Pakistan will also procure Chinese Type 093 submarines for similar ends.

US operationalized this capability in 1980, and a single Ohio-class submarine carry 154 tomahawk class SLCM.

There is also difference in delivery mechanism. Agosta 90B submarines will launch Babur-3 SLCM through their torpedo tubes which is basic method and restricts power projection options.

American submarines feature VLS to launch tomahawk class SLCM on average; VLS is reserved for launching SLCM whereas torpedo tubes are free to launch torpedos without the need to choose otherwise.

VLS stands for Vertical Launch System. Here is an example: http://www.seaforces.org/wpnsys/SUBMARINE/Mk-45-vertical-launching-system.htm
