The campaign for the presidential election of June 3, Bashar al-Assad should win without surprise, began Sunday in Syria, following a military success of the regime in Homs.

The poll, already denounced as a "farce" by the opposition and its allies will take place only in controlled by the regime, in a country ravaged by three years of bloody conflict territories.

The beginning of the campaign comes on the heels of a major victory of the scheme on the ground, with the recovery of most of Homs, the third largest city and the spearhead of the armed rebellion after the start of the popular revolt against triggered the plan in March 2011.
