NEW DELHI: Varsha Bhosle, daughter of singer Asha Bhosle, committed suicide at her residence in Mumbai on Monday.
According to TV reports, she shot herself at home. She was 50 years old. Varsha has worked as a playback singer in Hindi and Marathi movies, and appeared in concerts with her mother.
Police have confirmed the suicide and said she shot herself with a licensed weapon. Varsha had attempted suicide earlier as well, according to reports.

The industry is two edged sword. One needs to be sound & stable enough to handle success and failure with open arms. Personally, Asha-ji's life had been flooded with tragedy since her first marriage.
Anyways, RIP !
RIP to her. This "depression" is getting more fatal day by day. Few days back A housewife at the age of near 60s with her two daughters jumped of 35th floor after the death of her husband. People are being less tolerant towards life these days

Varsha Bhosle, the daughter of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, has killed herself in Mumbai.
Varsha, who was 56 years old, allegedly shot herself with her licensed revolver in her Pedder Road residence.
Police say she died on the spot. No suicide note was found but Ms Bhosle was believed to be suffering from depression and had been hospitalized a few weeks ago after a suspected overdose of sleeping pills.
Ms Bhosle's body has been sent for a post-mortem and a case of accidental death has been registered by the Mumbai police.
Varsha Bhosle was a columnist with web portal Rediff. She previously wrote for The Sunday Observer and The Times Of India. She was also a theatre personality, sang playback for some Hindi and Marathi films and performed in concerts with her mother.
