Army deployed in Rajouri, curfew continues after assault for slaughtering camel

Army was deployed in some areas of Rajouri district of Jammu after tension over an assault on some members of the Muslim community by unidentified assailants for slaughtering a camel on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, officials said.
Despite a curfew being in place, three shops were torched in the violence that broke out after Muslim men who had slaughtered a camel on Eid day on Tuesday were attacked in Palma village.
Three shops located in city chowk of old town area were attacked last night.
At about 11:30 PM, five to six persons attacked a car showroom at Badhoon village and also set on fire two cars parked there.
"Since last night, no more violence has taken place and curfew has been imposed,” DM Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Bhat said.
