Hello unfortunately I dislocated my knee last night this has happened to me before on the same knee and wanted to know if anyone could advice me about making it stronger and what exercises one can do to make it less likely to happen again? :(

I tore my acl last year, knee became very unstable after that and it would buckle if I didn't wear a brace and tried to even jog a little bit. Got it repaired in January, now after rest and rehab it feels much better, still not a 100% though.

Strengthen your quads and hamstrings.

Knee brace , and strengthen the upper theigh area muscles with professionally recommended excercise that keep the knee issue in mind

Thanks guys I feel a bit low right now I am bed bound but the dr's looked after me very well and I called my manager that I can't come into work next week

I will do swimming sessions and not do any strenuous activity

Thanks bro I used to enjoy dancing but now I need to be very careful what activities I do but hey let's thank God we still in a good position compared to many, I am very thankful for the care I received they gave me 15mg of morphine and a pillow plus were making jokes so I feel at east. The ambulance drove very slow on the bumpy road too and I am going to send them some chocolates and flowers when I recover.

My knee got dislocated while i was playing football back in school days. Dont worry overtime you will be ok, although you seriously need to workout on your joints and thigh muscles. I have improved a lot since then, though the fear never left me :(

I presume its patellar dislocation not knee dislocation. I have jus seen 3 knee dislocations in my 10 years as orthopaedic surgeon..and all three wer associated with severe road accidents.
Mostly it is always a lateral dislocation...were a long knee brace for 4 weeks ..ice packs and pain killers. Then after 4 weeks start with range of motion exercises.and i will advice for a mri at 6 weeks and take treatment accordingly.

Hi,

As my Dad would tell me and I never listened to him---he would say " all this accidents that you have---when you get older---they all will come back and remind you when they happened if you don't care for them now "---.

I never listened to him---. By the way my dad was a doctor.

So be very careful.

It is my own darn fault putting excess pressure on the same knee, I live and learn though and will be careful from now on.

how did you do it.. it sounds painful

First time was playing football and now I did it while dancing (slipped) it cracked twice on the way down

I have a brace and putting ice packs on it but will take me 4-6 weeks to recover as I am hoping to go Barcelona.
