Americas Military Budget isnt as much as you think if you consider that their arms manufacturers are private companies unlike Russias and chinas where they belong to the state.

Americans say they have 10 times higher budget as russia and 5 times higher than china but does it mean they are 10 times stronger than russia or 5 times stronger than china? US government doesnt own any of these companies they order stuff from, so the companies think like any company does about profit first. Of course they still bring good weapons maybe even better than russias but they cost much more and arent that much stronger in comparison to the price.

Just look some of these defense companies they make revenues about 20 to 60 billion dollars ever year, for them the budget is routine so they plan them into their books.

look at bae systems their revenue is almost half as big as UKs budget.

You can see that no russian or chinese company is in the list, just the last one is a russian despite russia being the second largest exporter.

And now lets compare what russia could afford for their navy all over the years to the uk. Their budget is quite similar only recently russia surpassed the uk before uk was ahead, especially during the 90-05s.

of course russia has more because of the soviet archives but even if you look at whats coming in the future the uk hasnt much.

The UK is obviously looking to replace their old aircraft carrier with 2 new elizabeth class in 2010 which are not nuclear powered (russia is still planing when it will come out it will be nuclear powered), in comaparison to overall you can see russia has more for the future.

here you can see they build 13 submarines and not any ballistic one. Russia is planing to make 10 borei ballistic missile submarines alone, as well as 4 mistral carriers which they paid 4 billions, why?? because its from a french company. And russia only recently got all the money for that, 10 years before it could barley hold its soviet navy.
So you can clearly see russia could and still can afford more for the same money britain and other nato countries which privatized their military. Russian arms manufacturers belong to the goverment they need to deliver the best possible results at a fair price. In fact every money they get from the government goes back to the government because their are owned by the government. It even effects exports as the base price for the weapons they make are cheaper, america companies cant sell their stuff cheaper abroad how they could it explain to their own country? And you can see that their abrams tank if he would be really so good for its price why is it that no one wants to buy it?? The last time an abrams was sold was actually a donation to iraq, while india bought more t90 tanks than the own russian army has for itself.

And another thing people forget is wages, western wages are much higher than russia, china or india.

You can see that russia has 5 times more people in service than uk, they have to pay less for the people who are interested in the military than in the uk. India has a lower budget than uk but they have almost as much as america, china has even more than america and north korea has more than russia.


So you can see you cant say that military budget is everything what makes an army better.

A lot of American companies compete for Government contracts and price is an important issue in the evaluation process.

And of course the US las lots of military bases to maintain, which takes a large chunk of the budget.

i dont think that way for small weapons new weapons its maybe the case but the main battle tank?? Its always gonna do one company and for the naval industry and aviation industry its the same case.
