altitude sickness

How does this work exactly? Our filming crew is housed in St. Pedro de Atacama, so the hotel is at 2300 meters above sea level. which is quite high already. Yesterday we went up on El Tatio which is 4500 m above Sea Level. Some crew members felt really sick. I felt ok, just a bit weaker.

It was intresting to see that it did not depend on how old and fit you are. An elderly lady we have as historic advisor had no problems, some younger folks in my age had huge problems. Is this a genetic trait how well one can deal with that?

It takes a getting used to.

The first few times I was up in the mountains or going to another place through the flight, it was kinda annoying.
Then all of the sudden, i was able to tank it all easily without feeling abit dizzy or anythign at all!
