Ahmedabad court refuses to ban Gujarati satire book "Feku Ji Have Delhi Ma"
Updated: June 29, 2016 01:27 IST | Special Correspondent

The Ahmedabad civil court has dismissed a suit filed to seek a ban on a Gujarati satirical book Feku Ji Have Delhi Ma (Feku is now in Delhi), which mocks the tall promises and claims Prime Minister Narendra Modi made during his campaigning for the 2014 parliamentary polls.

During the polls, opponents of Mr. Modi had called him feku (boastful) while deriding his claims.

The court held that the book contains the personal opinion of its author Jayesh Shah; so banning it would violate his right to freedom of expression.

Petitioner Narsinhbhai Solanki contended that the book “offended and hurt his sentiments and its derogatory title also defamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Mr. Solanki made the Prime Minister a respondent in the suit in which he objected to the sale of the book in Gujarat and elsewhere.

He also submitted that the book was meant to deride and defame the Prime Minister, while criticising his government which came to power only two years back. The plaintiff’s main objection was to the ‘defamatory and derogatory’ portrayal of the Prime Minister.

However, civil court judge A.M. Dave held that the book did not pose a threat to the unity and sovereignty of the country, which is a valid ground for imposing a ban on its sale and publication. The judge dismissed the suit while refusing to restrain the author and publisher from selling the book.

as a Gujarati let me tell u guys one thing.

We Love Modi, he's our Hero. we respect him more tn we respect Gandhi(another Gujarati) for his Economic policies.

for example,

Gujarat was nothing in India until Modi took charge. You might have remembered the Monster Earthquake that tilted the Gujarat(i was in Jamnagar at that time). Many industries quieted from Gujarat since 2002 due to earth quake, Violence etc., that was a day to day affair. It became a deserted place for industries after 2006 Earthquake. Later, It's Modi who regained all industries back to Gujarat with a better administration and also he invited many foreign industries to Gujarat with many offers from government for investment. He also managed the poor people by providing basic amenities such as Food, drinking water and free medical aid for people who struggled in Earthquake.
For his best administration, there were many awards given to him and one among is the Best Chief Minister Award. He is also one among the rare politicians who appeared on TIME magazine cover page for his political strength.

other tn that, BJP/RSS have complete control over Gujarat, it's like single party Rule. nobody can sh!t on BJP because we support it.

we will always take progressive Single party rule like BJP/MODI over secular Congress or APP.

More than Modi the reason for Gujarat's development is the peace and business opportunities in early 1980 upto 2000, when economically well doing states like Punjab, Haryana and Marwadis of Assam faced unrest and where forced to seek another opportunities of business.

Gujaratis had higher spending power thanks to NRI fund flow and business culture, but at the same time they where more of Lala types, that is easy going ones. The outsider took benefit of this and started expanding the business legs by bringing in investments. Thus the cycle of SME's started which is core reason why there is economic growth in gujarat. When Modi got gujarat it was already doing very good in terms of economies, further more the easy access to chinese technology meant the next generation of investments came in form of industrialization based on machines from china and germany. Thus this every growing business community demanded for better social life and funded the municipalities by proper tax payments and hence people oriented municipalities made the ground level progress and development is seen.

Modi is visionary and he is intellectual, he used this base to further cement the growth and his political aspirations. Outside the business centers, which grew in 1980's era majority of Gujarat is just enjoying the developed facilities, rural people are not actually developed and hence you things demand of reservations by Patels or increase in landless gujarati labors.

I dont deny a good governance is must for growth, but its not just the Modi factor that changed gujarat. Things might have been different for Modi if he would have been given Bihar, Odisa, UP or for that matter Nagaland or Mizoram.

BJP ruled gujarat because there is a long history of communal polarization and hindus votes favoured BJP after they lost faith in Congress. This got strengthen in 2002 and following it was the economic growth cycle results which brought laurels to government.

As far as author and book is concern, all politicians are more or less feku, ,they make big promises. What matters is delivery percentage. Atleast with full majority the PM doesnt cry the constraints of coalition goverment.when they fail to achieve growth and harmony objectives.

If a leader can raise the moral then half of his work is already done, rest can be achieved by tangible actions and thats what making mr. Modi the MODI , PM of India .
