The Abu DhabiDistribution Company, a branch of the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC, has stated that the emirate has saved 181 megawatts of electricity during Earth Hour 2019.

Launched ten years ago, Earth Hour is a global initiative that aims to engage individuals to support efforts in tackling climate change. The event is held annually encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights for one hour, from 20:30 to 21:30.

Saeed Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company, said that the company’s participation in Earth Hour reflects its keenness to protect the environment and raise the awareness of the entire community about the importance of saving energy and natural resources, as well as to protect the environment and encourage the community to save electricity.

The company urged its employees and the entire community to turn off their lights for one hour, to ration the use of energy.

It also turned off the lights in its headquarters on 30th March, at the same time as other countries took part.
