How to shoot yourself in the foot: A short tutorial by the Government of Israel
Sometimes individuals pursue self-destructive policies, sometimes companies do. But on this occasion, the Government of Israel shows us how to lose all your friends in no time flat! Watch the Israeli government and learn what NOT to do:
Turth be told, this Danny Aylon character (aka Insolent Jackass), the Deputy Foreign Minister of Israel, is a real piece of work. At a time when Israel is more isolated in world affairs than it has been at any time in the recent past, this ill-mannered brute decides to pull off a stunt that will do nothing other than destroy the last shreds of credibility his government is extended in certain quarters. In response to Turkish protests agains the treatment of Palestinians in Israel, the Foreign Ministry of Israel summoned the Turkish Ambassador yesterday, providing him with a low chair to sit in and – against all diplomatic norms - removing the Turkish flag from the conference table. Of course, since this alone did not suffice, Aylon also had to announce all this to the media people covering the event in Hebrew. Why in Hebrew? Were you scared, Aylon, that your little act would backfire had the Turkish Ambassador walked out? But seriously though, what class and what finesse! The only thing lacking was having a 1-800-Rent-a-brute thug standing behind Danny the Mafioso. It certainly would have gone perfectly with the image of the Netanyahu government.
This incident is one more point of proof that those in power in Israel not only have deep behavioural and mental-stability problems, they also lack the ability to befriend anyone. Turkey is truly the only muslim nation to extend a hand of friendship to Israel - not to settle a war or fulfill any of their own objectives – but purely in the interest of regional stability. They have repeatedly helped Israel negotiate with Syria and have advocated a softening of attitude towards Israel in the interest of peace. Rather than being grateful for this, Israel shows us the classic case thanklessness and of taking a mile when given an inch. After all, what is this insult for? The reality is that Israel cannot tolerate legitimate cricisim of its inhumane policies. Israel expects that the people of Turkey must now turn a blind eye to every rubbish policy the government of Israel pursues, and if they express their displeasure in a democratic fashion, then these voices must be surpressed and censored. Now, I’m no Abdullah Gul, but if I were I would certainly tell Netanyahu where he can stick it!

The picture here says it all… but if Israel thinks that by being seated in a lower chair, the stature of His Excellency, the Ambassador of Turkey, has been lowered in any way, it is grossly mistaken. Just the opposite has been achieved. It is Danny Aylon who has shown himself to be a lowly thug. Like most Pakistanis, I am a Turk today and I stand by Abdullah Gul’s courageous stance and my Turkish brethren.
