I was using Facebook and was quite addicted to it.

When FB promoted the draw Muhammed day and they refused to remove the aforesaid page despite of our several requests, I and my many friends collectively decided to boycott facebook and disabled our account by mentioning the reasons.

The dual face of facebook has been discussed in this thread.
http://www.defence.pk/forums/members-club/59205-real-ugly-face-facebook-must-read.html

Till date I am not using it, even none of us are using FB.

But what I have seen many people, who are still using facebook.

I want to ask whether our decision for boycotting FB was correct? and How many members of PDF boycott FB due to that reason?

Please share your views.

well Facebook is not like a corner shop that if you don't like the shop owner you might want to stop buying products from him.

Its like McDonald's that has many branches all across the world. So if you don't like the branch manager of one McDonald's -- would you stop visiting all branches of McDonald's?... the bottom line is...

Facebook has regular members from all nations and some of them are anti-islamic, other are pro-islamic and some are neutral. So why are you abandoning something only because of few anti-Islamic idiots using facebook?

Imagine, you were living in America... and someone says something unIslamic to you... would you leave the country because one idiot said something you didn't like?

Thanks Zaki..

But the reason for leaving was the dual standards being followed by FB admin team. Like in the link given above, they disabled Saad's account and gave the following reasons:

After reviewing your situation, we have determined that your violated our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. One of Facebook’s main priorities is the comfort and safety of our users.
We do not tolerate hate speech. Targeting people based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or disease is a serious violation of our standards and has resulted in the permanent loss of your account.
We will not be able to reactivate your account for any reason. This decision is final.
