It is a common phrase we here in Pakistan, not only from ruling elite but also in liberal pockets everywhere in Pakistan, "Fauj Asi fisad(80%) budget khaa jati Pakistan ka"



after hearing things like this we decided to hit the bottom of the truth behind this perception and how this perception actually came into being as obviously theoretically or practically it is impossible for any to believe this facade unless hopelessly blind.



so in quest of data we hit upon multiple official and non-official records.

the highest Pakistan spent on defense in a year was in 2018 when Pakistan spent 12686 million USD on defnese. that is mere fraction of budget of Pakistan infact it is mere 2.9% of the GDP however compared with Pakistan's budget . it came as a staggering 8.80% of our total budget spending.Which is quite less when taking a look at previous trend.






while the fraction is a little higher to be easy swallowed, it is nowhere near the mammoth numbers provided by its critics.


so where does the notion comes from?


one place we can assume it coming from is the fact that military has ruled Pakistan for an extensive time. so we went ahead to focus on previous data as well, the findings where somewhat shocking as we stumbled upon a common trend, military spendings where high during civil rule and significantly lower during the military rule one common example is during the time of Benazir bhutto, our military spendings reached 8.9% of gdp and represented 27% of our budget spending on the contrary during the rule of hardcore commando it was in his initial years mere 2 % of GDP.





While the numbers were still quite surprising they still were 400% less than the the 80% figure circulated.still not satisfied with our findings we went to address the root of the perception. Another "strong Argument" we witnessed was

"how come Pakistan has built an impressive weapons Arsenal and Nukes if not used the budget"


now this claim seems like Pakistan Army is suffering from success.

nothing else can be said about it as this argument is just deafening



All in All , Pakistan Army's capabilities are so impressive that it is hard to believe that it can be cost-efficient.

Most of this perception based on lies and deceit from a certain group of fools those never been were aware how the armed forces system works and apart from assigned budgets which was/is/will never be the 80%, how they produce additional resources for their members in service, retired members and families of 'Shuhadas'. That is a multi-dimensional debate.
Believe me, those so called leaders remained in power and now crying and hauling, if they adopted such approach with sincerity as armed forces leadership does the economy of Pakistan and status of common Pakistanis is never in a shape as it is today.
Pakistani armed forces considers their members/retired/'Shuhadas' as their family.
On the other hand the political elite only consider their sons/daughter as future ruling elite and common Pakistanis and their generation as their permanent slaves. That is the difference in approach and attitude.
The day the common Pakistani able to understand that approach the fate of Pakistan will change towards the light.

The army and to a larger extant the mythical "establishment" has been treated as a boogeyman for the failures of civilians.

Whenever civilian leaders failed - they needed a sponge to rest the blame on. That's where the "establishment" gets picked on.
