A-DARTER
Fifth-generation Air-to-air Missile System
upload_2015-2-2_13-2-44.png

A-Darter is a leading wingtip fifth-generation Imaging Infrared (IIR) SRAAM air-to-air missile system. It has a lock-on after launch and memory tracking with the latest processing capabilities. The A-Darter may be designated to a target by using the aircraft's radar, a helmet sight or the missile's very effective autonomous scan feature if radar silence is required. The seeker's large look-angles and the airframe's agility enable high off-bore sight helmet designated firings. Long-range intercepts beyond IR detection range are also possible with the lock-on after launch capability of the A-Darter. The missile can be integrated on the latest and older generation aircraft platforms. It has already been integrated on the JAS-23 Gripen and integration on the Hawk Mk 120 is under way.

Sources indicate an initial 100-200 units could be sold to international users, and Pakistan is viewed as a possible buyer. Mectron delivered its first MAA-1A Piranha-1 air-to-air missiles to the nation last month, and Islamabad has also signed a letter of intent to purchase B-version Piranha-2s.

Under consideration...
I am listening this 'under consideration' thing for the past 8 years ....PAF was quick in purchasing MAR-1 from Brazil ....but don't know what's their procrastination with the A-Darter !

Because they weren't operational.
Sooner or Later i will post another article on Jft blk2 in that i will tell everything regarding new advancements but first solve my query sir...

They aren't cleared for export until 2017. Brazil wants this missile to be integrated and fired from their jets first . Hence they set a timetable of 2017

The A-Darter is in its final stage of development, with production expected to begin next year and the first missiles should be in service by 2016. Testing and integration has already been done on South African Air Force (SAAF) Gripen C/Ds, which should accelerate the integration of the weapon onto Brazilian Gripen NGs when these are delivered from 2018. Brazil had originally planned to integrate the A-Darter onto its fleet of F-5s but with the purchase of the Gripen NG this has been cancelled as the Gripen will replace the F-5 fleet.

1-First all sir A-darter has been launched from Gripen.
2-The title says "An Option"
3-Missile is operation your main source still remains open media and SAAF and denel are not updating their Wikipedia daily.
And at the time Pakistan purchased Mar-1, it was still sold to Pakistan even India tried hard to stop the deal.

It seems you have habit of typing first reading news later. Operational missile means it is being mass produced but what you implying is

Launching missile means it is being Mass produced

Test flights and integration means means it is being Mass produced

No you are totally wrong . I guess it's you who need to read few wikis to brush up your knowledge about how business are conducted and when products are deem worthy to export and concept of limited batch before mass production

And FYI. MAR-1 delivery would began this year to Pakistan. When Pakistan signed the deal MAR-1 was still in R&D phase. Brazil exported training rounds to PAF in 2011-12. So it took 6 years from signing the deal to materializing it.

That

PLEASE SIR take some rest and do read South Africa, Brazil ready for A-Darter missile test - 7/6/2010 - Flight Global Sources Inside Denel Dynamics have indicated possible sales to Pakistan because Pakistan showed keen interest in Program, if you think Denel Dynamics was attention seeker for product then simply they would have offered Missile to India for Tejas.
