A special team comprising of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and district officials on Wednesday seized 900 illegal natural gas connections in Lahores Badami Bagh, media sources reported.
Following the Punjab governments order, the campaign against electricity and gas thieves also continued in the city under the supervision of district authorities and the FIA,.
The estimated amount of gas theft was in millions of rupees which could be helpful in decreasing the losses incurred by the Federal government.
Moreover, a FIA team cut the electricity connections of at least 161 flats in Islamabads G-6 during a raid where Police officials had been residing since the last four years. The accused had been using the energy resource without electricity reading meters.
The investigation team also discovered a hostel in which 45 rooms and 2 shops were illegal using electricity connections in Islamabads Chatha Bakhtawar. The hostel owner was subsequently arrested by the FIA team.
Furthermore, the FIA conducted a joint raid with officials from the Islamabad Electric Supply Company on a commercial warehouse in Ratta-sub division where electricity was being supplied from a home connection.
Warehouse Owner Shaikh Shehzad was arrested by the raid team while other employees managed to flee from the site.
