KOHIMA/GUWAHATI: At leasteight Assam Rifles personnels have been killed and six others injured in an ambush by suspected NSCN (K) militants in Mon district of Nagaland on Sunday afternoon.Four other jawans of the paramilitary force are reported missing.

A security source said, "A group of 18 jawans of 23rd Assam Rifles was travelling in a truck to fetch water from a stream near Changlangsu village at around 2.30 pm when they were ambushed upon by militants, who we suspect are NSCN (K) cadres. Three jawans died instantly and reinforcements were rushed in immediately. There was retaliatory firing from Assam Rifles and reports received so far say that eight jawans and a militant have died. Six jawans have also sustained injuries and four others are missing."

This is the second attack by NSCN (K) since the outfit pulled out of a 15-year old ceasefire agreement with the centre last month.

On April 2, three army jawans were killed and three others wounded when NSCN (K) ambushed an army convoy in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district.

On Saturday last four NSCN-K cadres were killed in an encounter with Army at Kamlengching village under Nungba police station in Tamenglong district.

The centre has recently cancelled the ceasefire agreement with NSCN (K) and refused to extend it further. The ministry of home affairs said in a statement that it will not engage with National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) any longer in the Naga peace process. Though the agreement between the Centre and NSCN (K) was signed in 2001, the two sides are yet to start a political dialogue.

Last month, NSCN (K) chairman SS Khaplang had abrogated the ceasefire saying, "The 14 years of ceasefire between NSCN (K) and New Delhi has become a mockery and a futile exercise." The Centre has also signed a ceasefire agreement with the NSCN (Reformation) faction. The agreement was signed by Shambhu Singh, joint secretary, MHA, and Wangtin Konyak and P Tikhak, co-conveners, on behalf of NSCN(R).

Upsetting!!!
RIP jawans.

Men in Nagaland 're mislead and jobless. Anyone who has ever been to Nagaland will tell you that its the women folk who run businesses in Nagaland.
Sometime back Nagaland had a staggering jobless rate of 27%. Development is the only way forward in North east, the most neglected part of India.

indian should resolve the issue before any foreign country try to contact/help these freedom fighters . because indian politics revolve around creating trouble with every neighbor ( srilanka , pakistan , china , bangladesh). and neighbors will do the same

is it good to show the sympathy by good terrorists to another good terrorists ?? :laughcry::laughcry:

RIP brave jawans... revenge would follow soon... all these militant scums and thier masters will rot 6 feet under.

This scum will be eliminated for sure. But it makes one wonder, why weren't these fringe outfits crushed much earlier by the Govt, rather then signing cease fire agreements with them. Look at how these useless fellow are now joining ranks and consolidating, while they break decades old agreements.

Lets give it a try if u got the balls.

Hey.. let's not go there. People will shower you with enough examples..

Pakistan must help severely oppressed poor people of Assam and Nagaland and Maoists and Kashmiris and Muslims of india and Sikhs and Dalits. What kind of fucking hell do we have in our neighborhood?
Much more peaceful, stable, united and developing a nation than what you have.

@ Topic .. Any idea what caused this dormant group to escalate the matters ? I thought Nagaland was largely peaceful these days.

RIP warriors, your sacrifice will not be forgotten nor go unavenged.

Free Free Nagaland

@waz sir please take care of these clowns. Such despicable behaviour in such a thread.

The united front with China's blessing is pushing Indian occupation troops out of the northeast! Soon they will have an autonomous region with their own PLA.
