. . . . . . . . . . . .
I am aware that F-16 is extremely versatile and can carry any mission in the book, considering the amount of weaponry it is able to carry. USAF primary Maverick user is A-10 while F-16, F-18 etc are also capable of deploying it. While A-10 is a dedicated ground attack aircraft, and it primarily uses maverick against armoured vehicles, and maverick can be used against other bigger enemy targets such as bridges, ammo storage facilities, command facilities etc, where as F-16 has much more potential as it can carry many other long range ground attack/air attack weapons and sensors for more sophisticated missions, air to air/air to ground. In PAF, F-16's mission profile is much larger, when viewing its capabilities pitted against the current inventory, these are only a handful operated and the spares in war time can be an issue. IriAF probably used Mavericks on AH-1. AV-8 is used primarily to support marines on ground and uses Maverick, F-18 covers other roles. F-16 in PAF will have air superiority and naval support roles too. Making an A-16 out of viper and sending it to take out 4-6 tanks; the tank plinking job should be done by less capable aircraft like integrating maverick on aircraft dedicated for ground attack, A-5 was a good contender in the past. The light ones currently are MFI-17 and K-8, whereas mirages are due for retirement. JF-17 has an open software architecture, maverick can be a contender. The others are MAR-1 for SEAD and C-802 anti-ship series in use of JF-17. Conversely, sending F-16 armed with Maverick for a strike mission on to a high profile target deep into enemy territory where the CM's and ALCM's have already failed to hit the target, is one of the options PAF can use. Otherwise the ALCM and CM could be the first choice.

The F-16 is a multi-role asset for the PAF and as missions demand it can be called in for CAS.
Today’s IAF formation is no less a difficult Air Defence environment than a IAF airbase 20 years ago and a stand off weapon like the Maverick coupled with good electronic survivability capability may be required.

A F-7 will be a one way mission in CAS today. The JF-17 has no suitable weapon available yet until a miniature warhead system really comes alive.
