Monday, November 11, 2013 - Islamabad—Thirty-five degree colleges including 23 for boys ,12 for girls and three postgraduate colleges have been established for youth in FATA in order to extend opportunity of higher education in FATA . According to official sources, FATA University will be set up in the tribal region with estimated cost of Rs.1500 million.
A scheme titled as “Purchase of land for establishment of IT University in FATA” is reflected in ADP 2013-14 for total cost of Rs.61 million with allocation of Rs .40.807 million for the current financial year. The authorities of Virtual University have been requested to establish campuses in FATA colleges.
Scholarships, under the prime minister’s directive, will be awarded to FATA domicile holders studying at post-graduate level and admitted to M.Phil and Ph.D courses in various universities and colleges in FATA. To facilitate FATA female students, the governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved a non-ADP (Annual Development Programme) scheme for purchase of 12 buses for female colleges.
Political Administration is awarding scholarships to FATA students studying in the colleges/universities in FATA and across the country.
A scheme titled as “strengthening of Deeni Madaris (Phase-II) and existing colleges in FATA” have been reflected in ADP 2013-14 with allocation of Rs.33 million for the current financial year to strengthen the existing colleges. To combat the existing shortage of electricity and load shedding, a scheme titled “Solarization of IT Labs: in High, Higher Secondary Schools and Colleges” with estimated cost of Rs.50 million in ADP 2013-14 has been reflected.—APP
