35 men arrested in joint raid on 'hospital' in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: A joint raid by police and the army in Peshawar on Thursday led to the arrest of at least 35 men in an injured condition from a clandestine hospital.

Acting on a tip-off from security agencies, authorities raided a house in Nothia area of Peshawar and found that it doubled as a hospital.

“These [arrested] people were injured and were receiving treatment at the ‘hospital.’ Majority of them looked like Afghan refugees but we will be able to tell who they are exactly once they are interrogated by our teams,” a security official told The Express Tribune adding that the men had been moved to an undisclosed location.

The official said it was possible that those apprehended had been injured in recent military operations.

He said that the ‘hospital’ looked like a house from the outside adding that it has become increasingly difficult for militants to admit their comrades to regular hospitals.

Police said inside this ‘hospital’, beds had been set up just like a regular treatment ward complete with all medical facilities.

“The house is owned by a local jeweler,” security officials said, adding that the property, now sealed, had been rented out by its owner.

Police said that the army officials knew who the arrested suspects were but were reluctant to share any information about them.

Next thing should be---do you see any signs of blood in the open drainage---if you have the smell of a hospital coming out of a house---if you see the resident taking too much care in dumping their trash---are they trying to hide the trash---if you see people being helped into a house---someone buying too many antibiotics----syringes---bandages---and other paraphernalia----.

There is a lots of common sense stuff that people can do to help the state----but in order for that to happen---the people need to be told continuously---day in and day out what to look for. The state needs to tell them to take ownership of their country---.

The state also needs to take charge of the police force---if a police officer arrests someone giving information---like a cab driver or a rickshaw driver to get bribes from him---that police officer needs to be prosecuted as a friend of the enemy and as an enemy of the state----.

The agencies and interior ministry must put this on the national media to educate public.

Participation of public is extremely important in this war.

We need to educate the masses to keep their eyes and ears open in their vicinities and inform the agencies ASAP.

This event will help to educate the public that the terrorists are using these type of places for this sort of purpose.

Good. The people of KPK are finally realizing that these people are not their "mislead brothers" but animals who slaughter their children. I doubt any doctor after Peshawar massacre would ever willingly treat one of these creatures.
The new law regarding tenants was made precisely for this purpose and it's good that courts and police can now finally legally take action against the people who give these a** holes shelter.
And it's interesting that they don't want the media to know the identities of these guys because usually they name the culprits and the commanders and all. Any particular reason for this "unwillingness"?

this is how a typical cop thinks.

when investigating a typical stake-out he would go around looking for local pizza/ fast food outlet and ask question about the suspects coming in few days prior to the incident buying large amount of food for some time and then suddenly vanishing. this can lead to positive leads though further descriptions, CCTV footage and more.

Ch Nisar is saying the right thing only if the politicians are willing to let go the police officers from protecting their private properties and doing the shopping runs then we will have enough people to perform preventive intelligence.

For that particular approach---I like the united states format for policing and police force. A policeman works for the city. That is where he is going to start and that is where he will spend his life ad that is from where he will retire. If he gets terminated, resigns or gets KIA----that is a different story. But he does not get transferred from one state to the other---he maybe transferred from one dept to the other.

What this brings is stability to the life of the policeman and his family and makes him committed to his beat---. Then anything that happens in the city---that is his responsibility---. Police need to be give ownership of thei communities and they should also be watched.

So---here we have a city police----then we have a county police ie the sherrif----then we have the U S marshalls---that I believe is the justice department----U S marshall's office are the judge's police force---these are the major police forces in the country apart fro fbi and a multitude of other security forces under the umbrella of homeland security.

The bottomline is that the police cannot do everything just by themselves---they need the help of the public----but the public needs to be provided security form corrupt policemen----.

Just like the rickshaw driver in Lahore gives info to the police about terrs and he gets arrested and tortured----I would fcuking execute that police inspector as an enemy of the state right then and there under the emergency powers of the state.

Some western NGOs have also been involved in treating militants injured while fighting the Pakistani state in FATA and Baluchistan , I know this information first hand

The NGO was black listed by our intelligence , these make shift 'hospitals' could be similar attempt by the same people

The entire KPK province needs a comb through.

I wonder if there is any way to find out which Pak nationals living in KPK have family in Afghanistan. This would be a good place to start with interrogations. Is there any way to find out? Do Afghans tribals even register for a passport? How gypsy like can you get eh.

Monitor all phones calls made to Afghanistan and start plotting a family trees because all these terrorists are related in some way or another.

Problem is sleeper cells. They will be hiding now. How to bring them out? There must be a way to draw them out but to do this something big needs to happen. I would go for knocking down Lal Masjid. All the crazies will be out in full force and then simply pick them off.
