Dude the film is on very dodgy ground with me......The writer from the start said it WAS NOT historically accurate. Hence the Spartans run around with no armour. There are weird creatures, not to mention elephant cavalry which would have smashed the lines therein about 30 seconds. Also the other 700 Thespians are neatly forgotten (not to mention the 1000 Phocians). The Persian army was not 1 million strong......
Oh and when Leonidas gives a speech about "freedom" it makes me laugh.....The Spartans kept slaves and were generally a bunch of assholes.....

goto google videos and watch the 6 part bbc movie called Ancient Rome. It starts from Julius Caesar taking power as the first Emperor, then the fall of his bloodline as Emperor Nero goes mad. Later it covers in detail the Rebellion in Jerusalem... There's one part that goes back again and shows how the Republic of Rome fell into corruption and eventually lost power to the Emperors. Then there's Christianity and the role of Constantine and finally then the fall of Rome of a series of misunderstandings.

I think Ethician soldiers were the best (Achillies kingdom), they supposedly captured the beach of Troy and the temple of Apollo without the help of 1000 men that Agememnon bought to fight, and they were the first ones to land.
