3 Assam Rifles personnel die, 6 injured in ambush along India-Myanmar border

Three Assam Rifles personnel have been killed and six others injured in an attack by suspected militants in Manipur's Chandel district, Army sources said.

The miscreants carried out an IED explosion and opened fire at the Assam Rifles personnel, when they were patrolling the Khongtal area in Chandel, near the India-Myanmar border, around 6.30 pm on Wednesday, official sources said.

The bodies of three deceased jawans have been sent to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Hospital, Imphal, for post mortem.


The injured have been shifted to a military hospital in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, the sources said.

No outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Security forces, however, suspect the involvement of banned outfit People's Liberation Army in the attack. PTI

I used to think Assam Rifles is just like our BDR/BGB working something like a border security apparatus. But, by reading the short news, I started to think it is an organ to kill and annihilate Assamese, Manipuris and others. It is a body to kill anyone at sight who do not think himself as an Indian.

It is no wonder that many villages in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Manipur would love to see their states merge with Bangladesh. The Union of India is a disunity among people needing bifurcation.

The villages you are talking about are Bengali muslim majority areas. I do not think the Assamese, Manipuris would want to live under Bengali muslim dominance. They also equally hate Bangladeshis.
