20 clusters to be set up in Kashmir for migrants

Jammu, Dec. 18: With 4,600 Kashmiri migrant families seeking to return to Kashmir Valley, Jammu and Kashmir government is mulling a new proposal to set up 20 residential clusters for them.

“We have mooted a new proposal for return and rehabilitation of displaced Kashmir migrants to Kashmir Valley in which 20 residential clusters would be set up for housing displaced community members,” the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Mr Vinod Koul, told PTI here today.

The proposal, mooted by Relief and Rehabilitation department, is being fine-tuned for its submission to the State Cabinet for its approval.

As per new proposal, residential plots in clusters would provided by the State government to those who desire to return to the Valley as per the place of domicile and Rs 20 lakh would be provided for construction of the house per family for their rehabilitation.

Kashmiri Migrants get 3,654 flats in Jagti township in Jammu

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir government has alloted 3,654 two-room flats to Kashmiri Migrants in Jagti Township here.

Out of the total number of 4,224 flats, as many as 3,654 flats have been completed and allotted to the migrant families at Jagti Township, officials of the Relief and Rehabilitation department said here.

The remaining 570 flats are almost complete and will be alloted soon, they said.

The township developed to rehabilitate Kashmiri Migrants under the Prime Minister's Rehabilitation and Return Package for the Kashmiri Migrants also boasts of other basic facilities like internal roads, educational and health institutions, community halls, parks, shops and drainage.

The minor works in the remaining flats along with the allied works will be completed by February and handed over to the authorities for allotment, they said.
