KURRAM AGENCY - At least two soldiers injured and five militants killed when a group of Afghan assailants stormed forces check post in a pre-dawn attack in Kurram Agency on Thursday.
The militants carried out the attack at around 5:30am and reportedly lasted until 7am. A group of militants, armed with sophisticated weapons and coming from Afghanistan, attacked a border check post located in Ali Zai area of Lower Kurram Agency. The security forces repulsed the attack and killed five terrorists, while at least two Pakistani soldiers received minor injuries.
However, it was not clear that how many militants were involved in the attack on the post. Moreover, some five Afghan militants have reportedly been injured in the fight. The injured Pakistani troops were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The attackers managed to escape from the scene after strong retaliation by the security personnel leaving the bodies of their cohorts behind. Heavy contingent of security personnel and high officials reached the scene of the attack and gathered the evidences.
No group claimed responsibility till filing this report. It was the latest incident of cross-border violence. In recent months shelling across the mountain frontier, which militants can easily penetrate, has raised tensions.
