2 Canadians arrested in connection with overseas CRA phone scam.


RCMP have announced the arrest of two Canadians in connection with the infamous CRA telephone scam that originates overseas and has taken aim at tens of thousands of Canadians.

The scam involves harassing phone calls claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency, with callers insisting the recipient owes taxes and must pay immediately or face arrest, imprisonment and salary garnishment.

More than 60,000 Canadians have complained of being contacted. Most who get the call identify it as fraud, and only a slim minority report being victimized, according to authorities. But in some cases those victims hand over life savings and even draw on lines of credit.

LOL ! Living in Canada I receive daily calls from India that Canadian Tax authorities wants to collect taxes from me and I must send them money.

According to the RCMP, Gurinderpreet Dhaliwal, 37, and his wife, Inderpreet Dhaliwal, 36, are each facing charges of fraud over $5,000, laundering proceeds of crime and possession of property obtained by crime. The couple was arrested on Wednesday.

One of these scamsters made the mistake of Saying some Gaali in Hindi when I counter attacked him. The amount of Hindi insults I gave him in 2 minutes, he would need a big break before making another phone call. He had no idea he was talking to someone who would understand Hindi.

Been waiting to get one of these assholes for decent enough time to give him a nice thrashing. Opening dialogue in Hindi just made it easier.
