ISLAMABAD – WAPDA Chairman Syed Raghib Abbas Shah has said that the government is making efforts to complete some ongoing energy projects during the current financial year.
Talking to a private news channel, Raghib Shah said that Allai Khawar project of 121MW would start functioning next month while the Satpara, Gomal Zam and Jabban hydro projects would be completed in March. He said that 40 per cent work on the 969MW Neelum-Jhelum hydropower project had been completed and it would start generating electricity in 2016.
Shah said that US Ambassador Richard Olson had assured that $150 million would be provided for the rehabilitation of Mangla Dam. The USAID will also help build the Diamar-Bhasha Dam project, he added. He said that Pakistan was working to add 19000MW electricity in next 5 to 10 years.
