High/low caste is not restricted to any geographic part of India. Punjab, Sindh, Pakthunkwa, etc. would have undoubtedly had Brahmins, Dalits, and all in-between.

India was never a unified political entity before Aug. 15 1947, so it wasn't too difficult to subdue many independent kingdoms in the subcontinent back in those days.
