HAL Tejas | Updates, News & Discussions

You can always make a plane more capable, what is important is it should be capable enough for the role its designed for. LCA is a light fighter and for that role far more capable. Which also confirms that in eyes of IAF LCA MK1 is more than capable for its required role and doesn't require...

Swedes are doing it does not mean we also have to do it. They have years of experience in fighter design that will come handy which is not the case with ADA. Also, did IAF ask for more hard points? They asked for higher thrust engine only and not more hard points that means something. IAF knows...

ISRO Plans Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV-TD) Test Flight in 2013

First stage of TSTO will be a SC460, i.e., 460 tonnes of propellant loding (slight changes possible) using 3-4 semi-cryo engines of 2000 KN thrust. Propellants will be liquid oxygen and Isrosene (specialised kerosene developed by ISRO). Semi cryo engine is under development and hope to be tested...

ISRO Plans Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV-TD) Test Flight in 2013

You are right. SSTO is far advanced concept than TSTO. As the name suggests, SSTO is a single stage to orbit space plane envisaged by ISRO that is also called AVATAR. SSTO will take off like a normal airplane from the run way using a pair of jet turbine engines. After achieving a particular...

ISRO Plans Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV-TD) Test Flight in 2013

If you are alluding to the RLV-TD design then thats not the RL vehicle. RLV-TD is a low cost concept that aims to demonstrate technologies required for the first stage of the RLV. The solid booster has nothing to do with the RLV, but to achieve a particular mission profile for second stage of...

HAL Tejas | Updates, News & Discussions

Adding two hard points will require strengthening of the whole wing structure and fuselage that is a very complex and time consuming process. ADA is doing what minimum is required to satisfy the IAF requirements and they know that not having extra hard points wont make LCA any less capable...

HAL Tejas | Updates, News & Discussions

Let it be Light combat aircraft to serve the lower tier of IAF. On one side you complain that LCA is overweight, then you also want more hard points? They are already increasing its weapons load from 3600 to 5000kgs, is that not making the fighter more capable?

HAL Tejas | Updates, News & Discussions

LCA MK2 cockpit is different from what ppl are discussing here. same configuration but larger MFDs. Dont believe what trishul blog psosts, because most of it is his thoughts. The guy had claimed that NAL has failed in composite manufacturing and TATA is coming to the rescue, which is a blatant...

    Sukhoi PAK-FA / FGFA: Updates,News & Discussions

With 5th gen planes employing a particular weapons bay configuration, I think it would be harder to use foreign weapons unless the bay configuration allows that. May be a universal weapons bay is the answer if India is considering using French weapons. Russians would not want that.
