I read somewhere that KFX isn't going to be 5th gen, but rather similar in performance to advance F-16 and that they will still need foreign (American) technology assistance.
By 2020, most modern airforces will have 5 gen aircraft.
South Korea are allies with America - Can't they get F-16 or F-35 from America?
Nobody outside the USAF or government knew about F-117 until it was flying over Iraq in desert storm.
Even when J-XX gets finished, I doubt anybody...
China still has license to produce over 100 aircraft based upon Su-27 airframe from contract signed in 1996. If they decide to make some of these aircraft for carrier use then that's their business.
And if it really comes down to it, I'm sure they could modify J-10B for carrier use.
According to the report, they were trying to smuggle goods into North Korea.
Otherwise why else would you want to enter when their people are trying to leave.
Okay, this topic has been posted before many times.
Su-33 is nothing special. Little more than a Su-27SK with structural modifications for carrier use.
Even Russian Naval Aviation is looking to replace them with MiG29K.
If you look at Chinas track record - how they improved Su-27SK to...
The domestic game is corrupt, too much match fixing and criminal organisations involved.
Also there isn't much demand - yes the Chinese are crazy about football, but they prefer to watch european teams.
The video shows J-10 and F-16 getting a A in avionics / electronics.
J-10 and JF-17 were both designed by CAC so JF-17 avionics / electronics might just be as good.
But I think what he means is the fire control on J-10 is behind the F-16.
Since the original KLJ-7 fire control radar is based...
Palestinians are native to the middle east.
A lot of the Jews coming into Israel are from Europe and America and have european ancestry.
Do you think that people with ancestry from other parts of the world coming in to displace native peoples is right?
Didn't the Israelites take the...
Nobody is saying that Chinese have surpassed Russians.
What I'm simply saying is that J-11B is superior to any flanker variant that Russia has supplied to China.
So basically, Chinese took Su-27SK and upgraded it to make it better than Su-30MKK2.
If J-11B is nothing but a simple copy...
So, a retired Russian Colonel doesn't think that the Chinese can improve on a plane that was designed in the early 1980's?
Lets look at the track record:
Su-27SK = J-11
Su-27SK < J-11A
Su-27SK <<<< J-11B
This is what a respected member on sinodefence had to say regarding the contract:
And since I don't have access to that article, I'm going to have to take his word for it.
I'm not too sure about the details - I'm hoping someone can enlighten me.
It may be a case where the contract itself was not cancelled but only the production from kits stopping.

The original contract was suppose to be for 200 J-11.
However J-11 production was stopped at 96. One of the reasons was that the Su-27SK as it was, no longer met PLAAF requirements.
Thus, Shenyang was still entitled to produce another 100 or so aircraft based upon the Su-27 airframe (up to...
^^ "Emerges" is the wrong word as it implies that it has only just achieved this.
The fact is that China has had the second largest defence budget for a number of years now.
Interestingly however, although it is the second largest spender in absolute terms, defence spending constitutes a...
It's not a spy satellite, it's used for navigation.
These series of satelites are supposed to provide China with a GPS-like navigation capability.
This is to end Chinas reliance on the U.S. GPS system for guidance on some of its weapon systems.

^^ That is the wrong picture for the story my friend.
This is the correct story to go with that picture
