I see, bummer then :( I thought for a while that we actually had rights to 2 engines but it seems like only the PD170 is ours and the PD155 is a modified Centurion 2 that can burn JP-8 from what you've said.
Oh well :)
But from what I've read here ( Donanimhaber / Türkiye'de üretilen İHA motoru yurt dışına satılacak - can't link yet sorry) there are 2 variants ;
PD155 (modified civilian engine, 9 manufactured and 2 have been given)
PD170 (still at land testing phase)
Since we've got around 60 UAV's at the...
Just posturing as usual. The logistical nightmare as well as the political backlash from such a move would cost the US much more then it would cost Turkey. The US has already accepted the S-400 purchase but she's trying to cause much of a racket as she can so Turkey thinks twice before even...
Well at this time it's "finalized" at it's current form but we're not even close to starting to create a prototype yet. Even after the initial prototype the design will change (there are 7 prototypes planned and each will have design iterations).
All in all, this is the decided model and form...
From what I understand;
So there are 2 engines at the moment and one of them is called the PD170. Here's what I could gather from the interview ;
Both engines are from Turkish origins and designs (meaning we own them).
The current one that is close to being manufactured already has 2 flights...
There is close to zero correlation between producing prototypes and creating an assembly line. By your own definition are we to call all companies that entered the tender "disgusting" because they didn't pour money into factories that may not even be used?
Should they all have built assembly...
This is great news! I honestly wasn't aware. The acceleration is probably due to the Altay mass production then? I'm really hoping Altay at the front lines with AKKOR equipped by 2020.
Akkor isn't finished yet. If i remember correctly the first prototype should be handed over this year and mass production is scheduled for 2020. Since BMC aims to finish the first 250 batch in 18 months they can't integrate AKKOR at the production level for this batch. Am I missing something...
So AKKOR won't be embedded at the factory level in the first 250 batch. Maybe the second batch?
Also does anyone know how long it typically takes to integrate a system like AKKOR to MBT's?
It "CAN" mean;
Target data : Think F35 style extended radar range thanks to UAVs.
Missile control : ATAK has a higher weight capacity while UAV's have generally better endurance and range. So ATAK fires the missile at a target that is being radar locked by UAV1. The missile control is passed...
Right now we're in this weird situation where our first MBT is going to be produced by ;
39% German company
26% Turkish company
25% Qatar company
10% Malaysian company
Allrighty then.
The ammunition for the systems might need to be replenished as they have a certain shelf life IIRC. So one of your suppliers (depending on the political climate) might decide to not supply your systems anymore.
Taking that in account as well, apart from creating a system that you can also arm...
Thanks! :cheers:
Trmilitary closing to visitors is a big bummer as they had (still have I suppose) vast amounts of knowledge which are properly sourced. We'll have to make without I suppose. If only I wasn't silly and created an account way back when I started reading them :(
