Whatever we do, it won't be public because that's now how we roll, and now there are also the hostages to take into consideration.
Hostages will be a nice way for AKP to excuse themselves of any hard labour but in the end the mood in the political spectrum is swinging against the Syrian...
What are we going to get to replace M113/BTR/any other old piece of equipment that can't handle RPG's?
In the recent fighting in Gaza an M113 got stuck, APC was send to relieve it (or other way around dunno) and it got hit with an IED and ATGM, 7 KIA.
Our enemies now have modern ATGM's as well.
Does anybody have any links to any analysis about our COIN/cross-border operations in the 90's era?
Example would be something like this;

Which country isn't hostile to us?
We buy gas from Russia, Iran etc yet at the same time we're fighting a proxy war for regional power.
Completely cutting of Israel because Erdogan wants publicity woukd be stupid.
Work with them, ally with them but trust no one.
I think they will go with BMC trucks in the end.
- Domestic product
- Company was sold to someone close to the AKP - clique, who had no former experience in this sector
We bought Kornets from Russia, seen in a exercise a while ago.
How many and why?
Stop-gap to fill in empty stores or a way to garner some technology through reverse engineering?
Since we're hoarders I don't think we have an immediate need of ATGM's.
Syria is a hornets nest filled with AD units, yet Israel has struck deep inside a dozen times.
You want to win a war? Project power? Strong airforce is the key.
We must take a close look at the 2006 July war between Hezbollah and Israel, and yes, even the current events in Gaza as well.
Same suprises will await us in regards of them getting better equipment and training.
And, we will have problems from the inside. They will also cry about human...
Guys, I launched a blog focused on Turkish defence industry/middle-east, writing in English.
First article here;
Hamas, isolated and fighting for survival | Anatolian Wolves
This seems to go unnoticed but is there anything from our guys regarding the recent developments in Syria? Shitload of PKK volunteers going to Syria from Turkey/Iraq.
Bizimkiler ne yapiyor?
I think, in the history of the republic the current administration is probably the most ineffective one.
Buying stuff is more about international relations/politics than we care to admit.
We'll probably focus on friendly countries first and perhaps expand in the future after our projects have proven themselves.
I don't expect us to sell to Western / first world countries.
Guys,
does anyone have more information about the previous cancelled tenders? I can only find a couple of news articles ranging back to 99/2000, slightly mentioning it but no technical information. Looking for information about MBT / helicopter tenders that were cancelled due to bad economy and...
I disagree, the same has been said about tanks but those are still relevant to this day.
It's one thing to do a COIN operation, it's another to fight against an equal enemy.
