    No actually only people who pass CSS and join as 17 grade officers are eligible to become diplomats. He was just an ordinary personal assistant. He started at 14 grade and retired at 16 grade. Nairobi was long ago, '94-'99. There are many south asians there, sizeable community.

    Just to clarify, my father was not a diplomat, he was not of officer rank, he was just a stenographer (PA). He didn't have a diplomatic passport or the CD number plate or anything. I went to Nairobi and Riyadh with him. Nairobi was the best posting by far.
