    Africa: China's New Continent

Hey man, just noticed your sig, that's a good quote and very applicable to Africa. What the West has done for decades is to just give Africa aid, enough to cleanse them of their guilty conscious, but not enough to raise Africa from the depth of hell. What China is doing is teaching Africans...

    Africa: China's New Continent

There are some key differences here--colonization and slavery were forced, these deals were signed voluntarily by the Africans, in terms they agreed to. Check out my thread in China Defence regarding the Pew surveys and the popularity of China in Africa, you'll see if they can tell the...

    Africa: China's New Continent

Pretty good Article: Africa: China's New Continent - TIME Here's one of the interesting quotes, IMO: This kind of long term vision IMO is what separates the Chinese government from many other governments around the world. China's vision doesn't change with the mood of the general...

China vs India -- from Japan's point of view

Now, I don't wanna get into this vs. stuff, but that article was written in '03 and has already been proven to be inaccurate as it has seriously underestimated China's growth potential. It predicted a steady decline of Chinese real GDP growth rate, down to ~6% by 2010, but the actual rate was...

Indian Air Force News & Discussions

Someone on another message board brought up an interesting point: $10 billion / 126 MMRCA = $79.4 million per $3.3 billion / 42 MKI = $79.4 million per Looks like the Russians knew exactly what price they can raise it to and still get orders....

China-Taiwan trade pact sparks street protest in Taipei

Good gambit indeed, and reintegration is an eventuality should the current course be followed.

China seriously studies South Korea ship sinking

Does anybody know why the investigation team did not include a single country which is not an U.S. ally? It seems like it would make a LOT of sense to invite China or at least Russia to participate, no? Why reach half way around the world for a country like Sweden?

Pew survey on how the world views China

The declining favorability is present in just about all Western and nearby Asian nations. I don't think China has done things that much differently, so it's likely that those countries are increasingly finding China as a threat, rather than just a land of cheap labor where they can make money...

    Assorted pics

So I dug around a bit, and it seems like pic #4 was posted once before on chinadefence last December, here's my analysis, xposted from that forum: Since 99% of the info out there is probably fake fanboy stuff, let's assume this is one as well and I'll surmise the logic used by the creator...

China's J-15 Carrier-Based Fighter is Inferior to Russian Su-33 fighter: Russia

Besides, the J-11B only uses the airframe design of the Su-27 so that components made for it would be compatible with the Su-27s(J-11As). Everything else in it is different. Avionics, Engines, Armament...etc, etc. are all completely different.

We can't see the first two pics, all I saw was "another possible concept of the J-10" followed by a pic of the E-2

China offered to redeploy forces facing Taiwan: senator

I wonder what prompted this. Perhaps the Chinese leaders figure that with growing military capabilities, massing missiles and troops along the strait is no longer necessary to force Taiwan to maintain the status quo?

    J-11B with WS-10A engines

I think they look better with shorter nozzles ;)

Also, translating two lines on top of the page in pic 5 states that by using forward swept canards in conjunction with vertical stabilizers and thrust vectoring, maneuverability has completely met the target or even exceeded it, thus aerodynamics design was very successful.

A3 is design #2, which has stealth ranking of #1.

So looks like the A3 is the chosen design, seems like stealth would be their primary concern then.

Compare with Su-27's nozzles, which are obviously much longer:
