I hate General Zia for a lot of things but his response to the Russians in Afghanistan was exactly what he needed to do in order to protect the integrity of Pakistan.
Regardless of whether this is true or not, China needs to be careful how it conducts its economic diplomacy and outreach to poor countries. If it starts to ensnare countries in debt they cannot afford then it will begin to be seen as yet another exploitative power like the USA.
