‘US like a hammer, everywhere else in world just nails for it’ – US vet

Obama's exit from Iraq was almost inarguably the opening ISIS needed, but he didn't have much choice as Iraq did not want to renew the status of forces agreement under conditions that the US wanted. I know he ran on a campaign of pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan, but in practice I don't think...

‘US like a hammer, everywhere else in world just nails for it’ – US vet

Note I said in Obama's case, not Bush's Even in hindsight Bush's decisions (particularly Iraq) were terrible for US foreign policy. It doesn't look like they were insurmountable mistakes as of yet though. As for Afghanistan it remains to be seen. I don't think we did the Afghans any favors...

    US Politics

The e-mail scandal is definitely very bad yes, but if she hasn't been indicted then I have to trust there are extenuating circumstances or otherwise it was not a major deal. I'm not saying Hillary is a great candidate, but she is better than Bernie or Trump in terms of what she can do in the...

‘US like a hammer, everywhere else in world just nails for it’ – US vet

Piper put it in better words than I could. US gov foreign policy is heavily influenced by the president and his cabinet, and in Obama's case I would not say It has generally viewed the issues in the world as nails, to be pounded by American military force.

    US Politics

    US Politics

Of course we will see, but until proven otherwise I cannot believe this demagogue will step foot in the white house. He would have to show a completely and heretofore unrevealed side of himself in the general election to change my opinion.

    US Politics

I'm surprised iat the likelihood of it happening, simply because I didn't think the far right were such a large part of the Republican party today. That said I'm still confident he will not win against Hillary in the general.

‘US like a hammer, everywhere else in world just nails for it’ – US vet

True of the military, though its their job to think like that. Not true of the government, should be obvious given the deal worked out with Iran, the sanctions on Russia, the support for the SDF. Its pretty clear that the US has and uses more options than brute force. That said, if we had to we...

The Rise of Greater Japan: LDP treads carefully in drive for constitutional revision

Fair enough, an impasse is an impasse and we will let the future decide. I have read both articles on the Fukuda doctrine in SE Asia but it will take a while to read through the entirety of the article by KG Burns though. I notice through all the pieces though the US is very strongly implicated...

Nasa’s new laser propulsion could get humans to Mars in 3 days

erm no, the idea was thought up by an American engineer and proof of concept was done in 1997 at the us air force research laboratory (its in the second article you posted). Neither of which is related to this particular demonstration of the concept technology as it is for a different purpose...

NASA Space Program Now Requires Russian Language

The way I see it, given the huge number of applicants, they can afford to be more discerning with their applicants and so added on the requirement for Russian to cut down the applications, given the ISS is a joint US-Russian project.

First off I am glad to see you have not chosen the easy road to simply ignore me, it raises my opinion of your character even if I disagree with your views, some of them more vehemently than others.:) That article you posted does mention a desire to improve relations with all other countries in...

I have asked before and not recieved so I am not optimistic about the chances of you backing up your views but...source? I have found nothing of the sort in English.... urging for Japan to keep in mind the correct war history and rebuking historical revisionism? That's not evidence one way or...
