From a strategic standpoint it does make sense for China to take Mongolia if war breaks out. The card that makes this successful with be if Russia and China both work together, if Russia goes against China then the story will probably be quite different. (Mongolia being a Russia/China buffer)...

don't agree with that. Smaller city states always depend on a larger neighbour to prospere. china ensures hk competitiveness giving access to her financial markets and other areas. Not to mention provide for water, defense etc

I would disagree with the bold bit, I done some reading into Serdom and tibeten culture and the practices that took place was really barbaric, not saying that the CPC is a saint but Tibetans (Wealthy ones) are by no means "harmless". The story of the Serfdom may or may not be fabricated but...
