    The enemy and Pakistan Army

The Avestan language of Zarathustara is almost indistinguishable from Vedic Sanskrit, but markedly different from old Persian, which originated in South-Western Persia. One data point about comparative dating of the Rig Veda and the Avesta comes from Varshagira Battle which apparently is...

Why don't more Muslims speak out against the wanton destruction of Mecca's

Earlier in this thread somebody was mentioning a proposal to bulldoze the grave of the Prophet. Would it be fair to say that the Kaabah, or say the grave of the Prophet, cannot be given any sacred status. More generally, is there a concept of sacredness associated with anything other than Allah.

Why don't more Muslims speak out against the wanton destruction of Mecca's

Would it be correct to say that the only things that is sacred in Islam are the Quran and the Sunnah, and that there can be no sanctity associated with anything else, including the Kaaba. Otherwise it would be considered as Shirk.

One Of The Best Threads Ever On PDF!

True - a good thread. I cannot post there, so I will mention a point here - the situation described in the OP of that thread shows the long-term advantages of India's non-aligned policy. With India increasingly economically relevant, and having simultaneous good relations will all major...

1984 riots: Where is the justice?

That makes it not ok to blame any religious group for it, you have to go after the real perpetrators.

Of course it is the fault of today's Indian government, they are actively protecting the butchers even today.

1984 riots: Where is the justice?

1984 riots: Where is the justice?

Please don't blame PVNR too much. He tried to order the Army out immediately but was overruled. This was stated by HS Phulka, the senior Advocate who is trying to get justice for the victims. This is exactly the trap that congress wants you to fall into. "Hindus" are as oppressed as you are...

1984 riots: Where is the justice?

Fact is some of the congressmen who were leading the murderous mobs were Christians. It is not a religious issue.

    Words Of Wisdom !!!

I actually think discussion on any topic should be allowed, and why exclude religion? Don't agree with forum policy on this issue. Thread discipline is a good thing. But in a thread on a given topic, one should allow both supporting and dissenting voices, as long as they are focused on the topic.

    Who is an Islamophobe ?

Right - I can imagine a risk score for every unique ID, which can be merged with call records from phone companies, to produce a more nuanced risk score based on the kinds of people you are in the habit of communicating with. The calculation could be done in seconds.

    Who is an Islamophobe ?

I am OK with profiling - Race, religion can be among the ingredients in a profile. The overall risk score could depend upon many things. With modern technology, databases, Unique ID system etc - the checks could be made efficient and non-obtrusive. When a red flag is raised one would need to...

    Who is an Islamophobe ?

One would need a system of careful checks based on various risk factors. Psychological testing, and a program of actively shaping people through education. But we would be poorer if we were to deny ourselves the services of an APJ Abdul Kalam, say, on the basis of his birth in a particular...

    Who is an Islamophobe ?

2 points: Firstly, we don't want to do injustice to any individual. Nobody should feel victimized because of accident of birth. Secondly, given that people do have capacity to think and to change, we want to influence them in a positive way. Long term that is the only option. So one should make...

    The enemy and Pakistan Army

It is always easier to go downhill, aided by gravity. Truth exerts a gravitational pull on everything. You need to keep taking steps and be smart about it. There certainly are other forces at play. But nature can help you along.

    The enemy and Pakistan Army

I was making the point that bad ideas have their life cycle. How long can you sustain insanity. Why did your Islamophobia thread not get locked immediately? It is because reaching out for the truth is inherent in everybody. Certainly conducive practical steps should also be taken.
