Census is still going on in parts of the country where work is not complete.It will go on until 20 April. So far its said that over 230 million people have been enumerated
How can people who have been living in karachi for years be counted anywhere else.It doesn't make sense and the census rules say that you will be counted where you have been living for last 6 months.
Most of the population is concentrated in districts central South and East.Malir which makes up more than half of karachi land area has less population.
Could it also be because of covid and anti encroachment operations.During covid the lockdown was quite strict in karachi than other provinces since sindh govt was more in favour of lockdowns.There also been anti encroachment operations which recently took place in mujahid colony.
The rule is that people will be counted where they have been living for the last 6 months and if these people have been in karachi for years than they can only be counted in karachi.The rule is same for all of pakistan.
Some karachi based politicians were claiming population of karachi has crossed over 30 million.The counting is still going on in karachi but it doesn't seem like the figure will be any where near 30 million.There are only over 8 million registered voters in karachi so 30 million was an overcount...
Before the 1980s the population of Bangladesh was more than pakistan but now the situation is the opposite.Bangladesh gave more importance to family planning and the results are in front of everyone.
