JICA planned a master plan for Chittogong....for 20-30 yrs worth $90 b ......involving a full fledged deep sea port and industrial belt...along the coastline....I read in Bangladesh Protidin newspaper few months back...the program has a very flashy/ "gaalvora" name

$2b for dredging only.....maintenance DREDGING $300 MIL every year...which will shoot up to $1b in a decade...besides, I already mentioned dire state of inland waterways to Payra port...some routes have only 4 feet of depth...which is even unsuitable for plying of shallow draft passenger...

Payra port is not going to matrialize as planned...it is nothing but a white elephant and a tool for making the politicians' pocket more healthy...read in a newspaper few days ago that 10 major river routes to payra port reqiires massive dredging to make payra port a viable one...besides, HR...
