A couple of potential "sub mottos" to add to the Pakistan Army's existing slogan :-)
Nasruminallah-e-wa-fathu'n-qareeb!
La Fatah illa Ali la Saif Illa Zulfiqar!
These inscriptions adorn battleaxes wielded by muslim warriors during the time of the Ottoman Empire. The pics were taken by me...
Guys, can we just ignore this fitna parasti and focus on more productive things...
Solomon2: Several Pakistanis have responded in the same manner, no need to change our Army's motto, now move along. Bringing 1971 into this discussion is a little desperate on your part. Al-Zakir has hopefully...
Mat jalo bhai, itna mat jalo :-)
As for China blocking this, it should be pretty apparent to everyone whose been watching China closely that they will stick it to India on every meaningful issue. They are much too smart to appear belligerent, but they will do the needful in the end.
You are correct.
I am staying at the Marmara at Taksim. Great hotel and I've got Bosphorous views... breathtaking :-)
Luxury Hotel Istanbul, Taksim: The Marmara Taksim Hotel ? Taksim Luxury Hotel In Istanbul
What is the motivation behind your question? And if you are looking for something "more appropriate", what do you think Pakistanis find inappropriate about the current motto?
TrMhMt, the AKP seems to be very very popular here. I can't find anyone who doesn't like Erdogan or Abdullah Gul... the moment I say their names I get "very good, very good!" as a response :-)
On the subject of the Turkish political mood, here is something I saw earlier this morning.
As I said earlier, Israel is *definitely* ultra unpopular here.
This is a pic I took at Topkapi... beautiful work on the ceiling of the entrance.
This is the Sultan's cabinet's conference room. The Grand Vizier used to lead meetings here. Also at Topkapi.
Yes, I'll certainly share the pics.
The purpose of the trip is just for my wife and I to spend some time away from work and the crazy pace of our lives. We figured a week in Istanbul would do us good.
The other goal is to get to know Turkey and Turks better... I want to explore some...
I loved Lahmacun! My wife likes Pehmacun too...
I have tried 36 different types of kebab :-) The beef kebabs are to die for. Also really liked the kofte and the chicken kebab available at the shops just below Taksim park (next to the subway entrance).
The juices were very good. I tried...
Been here for a couple of days now. Am really enjoying it. Some interesting findings so far:
1) The moment I say I am from Pakistan, I am greeted by the same phrase regardless of whether it is a taxi driver, waiter, shopkeeper or whoever else, "Pakistan Turkiye Kardes! (sp?)", which I believe...
Can't avoid women. So please send me a link to the Turkish immigration forms instead. Might as well fill them out now :-)

Will try to save as many bakras as possible :-)
Actually it does matter. And that frankly was not the point. I cited the link to show our ill-informed poster that he was completely wrong on the subject of international condemnation for India viz the killings in Kashmir. You may like it or dislike it, but it's a fact.
I agree.
^^ You know how resolutions get adopted, right? The forum votes and the majority carries. What does that tell you? That the majority of the OIC membership - foreign ministers of over 50 nation states - voted to condemn Indian brutality in Kashmir. REPEATEDLY. This is the official position of...
Bosphorus cruise is definitely on, and of course Topkapi.
I will also definitely go to AtaTurk's mazar, inshaAllah, to pay my respects. Along with Mr. Jinnah, he is one of my greatest heroes.
