    Ahmed Rashid: "A real meltdown".

The primarily goal was destroying the Al-Qaeda & the group that gave it support: the Taliban. They have failed to do that. Their other goal was to keep the Taliban out of power, but today they are the ones that are desperate to leave, & want to negotiate a power sharing deal with the Taliban...

    Karachi violence takes economic toll

You clearly don't know anything about New York city. New York City is famous for its gang wars. Flatbush, Brooklyn; South Bronx, & parts of Queens have been famous for this. It's a similar situation to Karachi, where parties use mafia like tactics to induce violence, gang wars.

    Karachi violence takes economic toll

Many cities of the UK & the US 'lost the writ' of the government for a few days as well, not so long ago. Did they become urban Waziristan as well? Can we keep away with the sensationalist headlines? I am peacefully sitting in Karachi right now, traveling & meeting people.

    Ahmed Rashid: "A real meltdown".

This discussion is very haphazard, & all over the place. They touch a wide range of issues, without really deeply analyzing any one of them. A disappointing event. At the end of the day, Ahmed Rashid rehashed some of his old conspiracy theories & baseless claims (like the lack of economic growth...

America's next move on Hafiz Saeed

I doubt the US/India have any substantial proof implicating HS. Contrary to common belief, I do not think this move was primarily to placate India, but is indicative of the failed WOT efforts in Afghanistan, & the perceived lack of support from Pakistan; trying to play hardball to save face...

    Ahmed Rashid: "A real meltdown".

But the interesting thing is, Ahmed Rashid predicted that the Pakistan Army would fail in its Swat operations in 2009? What happened there (& there are other examples of his failed predictions)? The role of the US in the Mumbai attacks is being underplayed as well.

You failed to answer my post, that the data collected by satp.org is unverifiable, and highly inaccurate. Many of the news reports they base their statistics off are unverifiable. The source that I provided talks in detail about not just the nature of the attacks; but also of the details of...

At least 4 killed, 14 injured in Karachi suicide blast

The fact of the matter is, the reason why more number of militants were killed in the previous years was because they had become a threat, & were challenging the writ of the government. Their back has been broken, & their structure dismantled. The attacks in the previous years took all over...
